napolitano all upset about the drawdown . . . so when i googled to find that story, i also found this:
*===
The White House issued a statement Thursday disputing a story in the Washington Times that claimed National Guard troops are being pulled off the U.S.-Mexico border earlier than promised.
In a missive titled "Setting The Record Straight," the White House said "there is no basis for the claim that National Guard troops are being drawn down early."
"When he announced Operation Jump Start in May 2006, President Bush clearly stated that the initial commitment of Guard members would last for a period of one year," the release said.
Under the second phase of the operation, 3,000 National Guard troops will remain on duty at the Southern border through June 2008, the White House added.
The story in question cited a letter by Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano complaining about the drawdown of National Guard troops.

the reBracero program looks pretty exciting, though, from the politico article:
===
—The Department of Labor will reform the H-2A agriculture worker program so farmers can readily hire legal temporary workers, while protecting their rights.
