Years ago, I hung out a few times with the former head writer of Beavis & Butt-head, Glenn Eichler. (His then-10-year old son, by the way, was clearly the model for Daria - total dead ringer.) I asked Eichler how ironic the series was supposed to be. He said it was, but that it wasn't Judge's doing. The pilot that Judge made for B&B had them hammering frogs and stuff. He said the irony came when the smart- ass New York Jews took over. Maybe he was overstating the role of the pros.
