But what Stan offered in "An Appeal to People outside the United States to Break US Imperial Power" is not an analysis of global capitalism but a series of things people outside the USA can do to help stop the Iraq War in particular and diminish US hegemony in general, as the title makes clear. It's just that his purpose, in the short run, is different from yours.

I reply:

(HI YOSHIE, JAPAN IS A STRANGE COUNTRY TO ME, I WISH I GOT OUT OF MY MAROONED CONDITION MORE)

In the thick underbrush of my ramble perhaps I did not make it clear enough that I do recognize the purpose of Stan's manifesto and largely sympathize with its means and ends, but...

What practical efficacy does "An Appeal to People Outside the United States" really have if it's published at a US website frequented mainly by US liberals and right-wing trolls? Surely it contains more than a germ of grandstanding, as someone else here pointed out. And given where it was posted it should edify US'ers understanding of how US imperialism is situated within global capitalism, rather than play to existing "national narcissist" prejudices, don't you think? If it is purely a set of political demands rather than an attempt to edify then it's lost on me why Stan chose to "publish" it where he did. Maybe I'm just disappointed because it's further evidence that Stan no longer reaches the high standard of analysis (the substance of which has influenced me considerably) on the reliable basis he used to. The quotient of brilliance still outweighs that of disappoinment, though, so I'll stick with him.

Anyway, what the hell, I'm just a marginal kibbizter with 1/10000 the clout of Stan Goff. That statement is not meant to be self-pitying, just the plain truth.
