Nonsense. There are many fine things to admire about the EU: its social charter, its powerful unions and mighty social movements, MC Solaar, a multinational parliament, the world's largest development bank, IG Metall, Green parties, 50 million immigrants, the videogames of Crytek and Remedy, Heiner Mueller, the Taz... all part of the EU.

The EU takes in 1.2 million immigrants every year; those politically marginalized groups are fighting back through new types of cultural and political mobilization; and Eastern Europe is a thriving semi-periphery with very interesting class struggles.

It's not productive to judge the lifelong output of a thinker on the basis of one short-sighted or misguided decision.
