Kurdistan. Led by Talabani here w/Saddam http://photos1.blogger.com/x/blogger/2871/232/1600/98012/aaaa.jpg http://angryarab.blogspot.com/2007/01/by-way-saddam-husayn-established-very.html

A war crimes tribunal in Kurdistan w/Kissinger in the dock for his betrayal of the Kurds in '75. He probably agrees w/Kissinger that, "diplomacy is not social work, " (substitute the word, "revolution.")his comment as recorded in the Rep. Pike report from that era on the CIA which noted the deal between Henry K. and the Shah and Saddam. According to the Con Coughlin bio. of SH within 48 hrs. the Kurds were being slaughtered again.

Hitch has never renounced his previous positions: he has never become a Likudnik for example like the earlier NeoCons, still thinks he follows in the footsteps of Cde Trotsky. His aberration of support for the war is understandable (if not persuasive for me) in the face of his longstanding opposition to Saddam's Baathist and fascist brutality. His love affair with Bush is definitely a stretch too far -- but it has not extended to all the domestic aberrations. I am sure he is still sound on healthcare, union rights etc etc.

So I cannot demonize him. In fact his record of opposition to totalitarianism, from Pinochet to Milosevic, from Saddam to Castro, makes him, in my opinion far more credible and creditable than the Ramsey Clark's and others of this world who have never found a genocidaire they cannot embrace in the name of anti-imperialism

But Bush.....

Even when we were vociferously supporting Kosovo intervention, we did not go gooey eyed over Clinton - who almost f)ed it up with his determination to avoid any domestically embarrassing casualties and consequent air war. And of course Hitch hated Clinton for having a clandestine blow job, while Bush as we know was screwing the world.
