This cuts both ways. You must lead a life sheltered from the mainstream
if you are surprised by Charles question.
I believe Charles admitted he knew nothing about BDSM so why do you
expect him to know how it differs from other forms of violence?
That's a serious question by the way. How do you expect uninformed
people to understand this?
BDSM advocates are going to have to do a better job informing people
whose tastes are more mainstream if they want BDSM practices accepted by
those in the mainstream.
You can't expect people to accept these practices if they not only don't
know what they are but also imagine them to be something hideous. Unless
for some reason you expect them to take it upon themselves to understand
the practices they think they already understand and dislike. That's
hardly a reasonable expectation.
It is always an uphill battle for those seeking social change.
