These must be mostly Republicans, who need someone to blame for the failure of their grand plan.

Speaking of disappointed warriors: I just learned the other night that Christopher Hitchens wrote a very pro-Saddam piece in The New Statesman in the late 1970s (his regime was secular, treated women well, was reasonably egalitarian, etc.). Some friends of his who were heavily into Kurdish solidarity had a talk with him and he recanted.
