Many hands make light work.

We were talking egalitarian utopia, right? For me, that includes considerably more civilized child-rearing practices. Anyway, do you think childhood trauma is the source of the desire to experience erotic humiliation? I find that suspiciously psychoanalytic.

When I brought up humiliation and objectification, I was thinking along the lines of slapping, spitting in the face, and "You worthless fucking cunt". I'm not seeing that in an egalitarian utopia.

Anyway, we're far beyond endomorphin release now. This discussion has mostly focused on the physical side of bdsm. There, and especially in the sadomasochistic (top/bottom rather than dominant/submissive) sense, the practice is a lot simpler to think about, and a lot likelier to be found in that egalitarian utopia. After all, erotic striking appears at least as far back as the Kama Sutra. In the west, we can find it at least as far back as Robert Herrick. And I think almost everyone has had at least one hickey. I'm trying to bring in the psychological side. There, I think questions of consent become more meaningful, and the ethics of the practice become more difficult to work through.

All the best,

John A
