When I was an undergraduate, I had a friend who was an Iraqi graduate student.  He 
told me that he worked hard on his English, but the first person he met and he came 
to campus with an Indian.  The Indian greeted him with a question: why don't you 
sally forth throughout your liege and raise tumult and insurrection?"  He was crushed 
that he did not know English language.
