An old pal once explained Trump to me by point out that he grew up semi-rich - his father, Fred, built middle-income housing in the outer boroughs of NYC in the decades after WW II - so he never felt the need to please that more nouveau types experience. He doesn't care what you think of his hair. Some arriviste would probably have a stylist and pay $1,000 a haircut.
