Nothing in anything I have ever written about sociobiology or evolution justifies a charge of Panglossian adaptionism. In fact, in the present discussion I pointed to a number of possible design defects, a position inconsistent with Panglossian adaptationism. Also I emphasized the anti-Panglossian position that different adaptive strategies (sexual pleasure and patriarchy) clash. However, the fact that "sometimes stuff just happens" is no reason to think that it "just happened: in a particular case and is certainly no refutation of a tentatively advanced evolutionary hypothesis. Let's not debate straw men here, please.
