Neither you nor anyone on this list is "dumb". We're all learning from each other. I'm just glad that this forum exists. Anyway, the way I see it:
Jim Straub quoted an article:
Although Edwards has criticized the war in Iraq, and has urged bringing the troops home, the former senator firmly declared that "all options must remain on the table," in regards to dealing with Iran, whose nuclear ambition "threatens the security of Israel and the entire world." ************************ MB) Israel has nuclear weapons and the entire world is threatened by former frat boys who are grooming themselves to become commander and chief of the executive committee of the ruling class.
*********************
JS article again: "Once Iran goes nuclear, other countries in the Middle East will go nuclear, making Israel's neighborhood much more volatile," Edwards said. *******************
MB Volatile because of assholes like you, Edwards, in positions of State power. (I'm not excluding Iranian or Israeli assholes here.)
*******************************
"As our commitment in Vietnam required more men and more equipment, some voices were raised in opposition. The administration was urged to disengage, to find an excuse to abandon the effort
But if we faltered, the forces of chaos would scent victory and decades of strife and aggression would stretch endlessly before us. The choice was clear. We would stay the course. And we shall stay the course."
President Lyndon Johnson March 1967 *******************
SDS slogan during the election season which got Johnson the job of commander and chief:
"Part of the way with LBJ!"
****************************************
Pop front disappointments never seem to be remembered and now the for the current farce or horse race or whatever. I think that there are more than enough liberals out there to take care of their own pro-capitalist nonsense. Besides, as you said Jim, the liberals don't need us or want us on their bandwagon, unless, of course, we're liberals ourselves.
IMO, what "the left" needs is more class conscious workers, workers who can think critically and act for themselves in their own interests. That's not going to happen if we waste our precious praxis-time organizing for some major party polytrickster. Sure, better the liberals than the conservatives in terms of the space within which we can organize. But nobody is going anywhere without the working class becoming conscious of their class interests and that isn't going to happen while the bourgeois (even the bourgeois socialists) maintain their class hegemony.
Best, Mike B)
