Wow. I remember reading and learning about Molly Ivins before I was "politicized," still a youngster, by seeing her on the Johnny Carson show and in columns elsewhere. Although after awhile Molly Ivins sounded like a one-note act, she was an important voice here in Texas, one of the few people able to get through some Texans' dim witted skulls to make them see things in terms other than "GOP good, Democrats bad" -- like Jim Hightower.
Yes, she was "only a liberal," but in Texas she helped folks like me, when we were young, see that there were other ways of viewing politics than just the standard status quo/GOP is flawless sort of way.
