The most significant work is his collected essays, Visions of Excess, which is primarily work from the 1930's, although there is a book On Nietszche as well. But it is the work from Visions of Excess that confronts the Nazi mythology surrounding N. Bataille has a sense of humor and quotes Mussolini's earlier socialist work to oppose the fascist uptake of N.
