[WS:] Yeah, Poles do it as well, but with a slightly different twis, since theirs is a rather non-remarkable little pissant country (to quote Richard Millhous Nixon). Their exceptionalism takes basically three different forms: messianistic (popular mainly in the 19th century and in conncetion with WW2), the ramparts of Christianity/Europe that keep the Eastebetween East and West.
I think most countries have developed similar self-righteous tripe in one form or another. Yuck! It would be interesting to do a quick survey of other country exceptionalism myths - anyone, please?
