This was a good and article,
I personally liked Alkhanov as a person and political figure (being just about the only person in Chechen politics who looks good from the standpoint of Western liberal values (which are totally alien to Chechnya)), but Ramzan has the guns and, most importantly, the "moderate Chechen rebels" are tied to him personally, so there's not much choice.
By the by, am I imagining things, or does Ramzan (http://www.peoples.ru/state/politics/kadyrov/photo.html ) not bear a spooky resemblance to 1980s American alien muppet ALF? ( http://www.tvshows.de/alf/e-pics1.htm )
