Sharpton *does* crush any brand-name politician I've seen him debate in his frequent appearances on various MSNBC shows. He is indeed smart, informed, witty and -- certainly these days at least -- a snappy dresser. I can't say that I've noticed his hairstyle as idiosyncratic. I guess there's still a lingering shadow on his rep from the Tawana Brawley affair -- but IMO that's ancient history and irrelevant today. Contemporary progressive politics would be much duller and have less potential without Rev. Al.
