Klein is on to a delicious irony though: he was a committed Americanophile in a country where people find it very easy to have the opposite view, and it seemed to irk most folks, except those in financial services. Black used to go on about how provincial this country is, usually something to do with high taxes inhibiting entrepreneurs like himself, and a cultural backwater, an so-on, and wished it were more like New York or London. The final straw was when the Prime Minister refused to give him special permission to become a Peer of the Realm, so he gave up his citizenship and went to the UK to become a Lord.

How fun, then, that as soon as the writ is dropped, he wants his Canadian citizenship back for some legal reason to do with prosecutability.

For the record, his Toronto law firm who did the deal work for him on most of the impugned transactions (i.e., drafted the non-comp agreements, structured the deals) settled with plaintiffs last year for $30M, no liability admitted. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
