[96 Tears is one of the great songs of all time - from "Roctober- Jake," whoever that is]

In January Question Mark, lead singer of the legendary garage rock group ? AND THE MYSTERIANS, lost everything in a tragic house fire that left him homeless, destpryed ALL his possesions, and killed his dogs (x-ref: www.96tears.net).

The benefit concert this Saturday, which is headlined by QUESTION MARK AND THE MYSTERIANS themselves (plus Detroit superstar Danny Dollrod, local rock goddesses Telenovella, and deejay sets by Miss Alex White and the Horizontal Action crew) should have genrated a lot of pres and buzz, but it seems like hardly anyone knows about it so we are imploring all of you to come, and to post this info to every e- mail list you have, blog, phonebank, whatever.

While I'm sure many of you are familiar with the stellar ssong "96 Tears" which established Question Mark and the Mysterians as one of the greatest garaqe rock bands ever, what you may not know is that Question Mark is an eccentric, flamboyant, bombastic rock genius whose theatrical presence, onstage and off, combines the best attributes of Mick Jagger, Prince, Sun Ra, Littlde Richard, and James Brown.

When the band reformed (with all original members, they are Mexican- American Texans who relocated to the Detroit area in the 60s) a decade ago their live performances were earthshattering, with many critics declaring that they were better than in the sixties, as Q's bizarre, electric stagecraft had become more dynamic in dormancy, and the ageless alien (he claims tro be from outer space) had no hint of "oldies" about him. Because of Q's eccentricities drama between him and associates was inevitable, so it is very rare that his bandmates and he play together, so in all truth, it is only because of the incredible circumstances that this show is happening, and this mah be your last chance to see one of the great American rock bands.
