I said "liberals and leftists," not just leftists. Together they would have to be at least about half of the voters. Throw in anti-war conservatives, and together they will surely constitute a majority of the voters.

The problem is that not only are Americans not ready for social democracy let alone socialism -- they just aren't ready for elections, plain and simple representative democracy under capitalism. Not unlike "slaves" after the official abolition of slavery in Mauritania (cf. <http://mailman.lbo-talk.org/pipermail/lbo-talk/Week-of-Mon-20070319/005529.html>). -- Yoshie
