Whoa, weren't you the fellow who a few posts ago was counseling the use of 
honey, not vinegar, to catch flies?  If the extract above exemplifies your 
notion of honeyed words, I see a hard slog ahead for you in your five-year 
plan to forge the Great Progressive Coalition.

Although the legal community has amassed "a lot of scholarly work on 
'getting to yes'," as you noted in an earlier post, lawyers' characteristic 
dukes-up attitude must surely be considered a liability in grassroots 
coalition-building. Whereas the public distrusts both lawyers and PR people, 
they *fear* lawyers whereas they find PR people merely laughable.  I think 
laughter's a better basis for grassroots outreach than fear.
