Having uncharacteristically watched this debate mostly from the sidelines, while being largely sympathetic to Carl's position from a personal anecdotal POV, I wonder what actual minorities (in particular black people) think about it (North vs South racism)? We may have a couple of them (minorities), on this list, perhaps?

(I know, I know... it is so unscientific and unsophisticated of me to suggest we make anything out of the experiences of individuals ;-)).

P.S: I admit that my experiences of the South are primarily from driving through it, or through short visits. The spouse was interned in Florida for about 2 years and she shudders at the idea of leaving the Northeast to return there. Not sure if that has anything to do with Florida being part of the South (perhaps only geographic?) or because of Florida being Florida.
