If you're displaced, you're gone. So how do these people "love it"? This looks like another one of your feelings.
[WS:] In Baltimore, they were very happy to 'be gone' because (i) they were leaving a horrible and dangerous environment in which they did not feel safe and (ii) they received subsidies and other assistance to find new housing, far superior to what they were leaving.
The only people that were unhappy about that development were (i) suburban home owners and their political representatives because they feared that the 'displaced' people would be moving to their neighborhoods (which was often true), and (ii) activistists and demagogues who saw a chance to make ruckus and score a point or two for themselves - be it popularity or a better deal on housing than everyone else from the city or developers.
