****************** In general, they're politically more hip to the State diversion of surplus value to the workers, especially the poorer strata, than other self-identifying groups within the class. People who self-identify as Jews have a similar, high level percentage representation in this tendency. It's part of what's left of liberalism as a political movement in the USA. Further, women in these groups tend to be even more highly represented than the men when it comes to voting Democrat over Republican. It must seem obvious to these workers that a party which would choose a leader who vetoes measures to fund health care for children is a worse bet than one which wouldn't, one who not only reads books, but can write them e.g. IT TAKES A VILLAGE. Not much in the way of social services has ever come from the Republicans, except as measures to undercut even more generous dollops of surplus value diverted, not to tax cut giveaways to the wealthy, but to programs helping workers, proposed, of course, by the Democrats. It's a left/right thing.
