Let me add one more anecdote. My 75-year-old father is a lifelong Republican, who says that he could never vote for a Democrat. He was a Goldwater conservative and has libertarian leanings on social issues. My parents are big consumers of Fox News and Rush Limbaugh. My father is a big Clinton-hater, who recently started getting a subscription to Human Events.

We don't talk about politics, which is weird given that we are all political junkies.

Yet, the other day I mentioned to my father that Hillary Clinton will probably get elected President and he didn't go apoplectic or anything. I'm sure that he still hates the Clintons, but my offhand comment didn't get a rise out of him. I haven't asked him lately what he thinks about Bush, but I've noticed that he doesn't switch from Leno anymore when Leno is going off about Bush.

My father couldn't stand Bush Senior.
