I don't think anyone is saying the Jena 6 are saintly civil rights martyrs. If a movement emerges out of this, it will be about much more than these six kids.
The point here is (1) that the DA's response was wildly disproportionate to a relatively minor fight that (2) occurred in an environment of incredible racist hostility against African Americans and (3) the DA's previous statements suggest that the attempted murder charges against the Jena 6 were an attempt to reassert white supremacy in the area.
