[WS:] This is yet another example that there is no hope in this country, mildly progressive politicians like MD Governor O'Malley or the POTUS in the making Obama notwithstanding. Right wing populism will invariably get in cahoots with bosses to defeat any progressive measure, no matter how timid. This will happen over and over again, from any attempts at health care reform, to building a more sustainable economy, to defunding the military-industrial complex, or to meaningfully regulate the financial sector. Remember, you heard it first here :).
