I hate having to own one (when I do), and how often they push aside all alternatives and make themselves a necessity. Not having to own one is like a $7000 raise. Car sharing services like Zipcar are the sweet spot for me -- most of the freedom with a fraction of the expense and responsibility.
But I drive so infrequently now that it's kind of a fun novelty.
