It makes perfect sense, really. If you believe in the anti-Christ (which admittedly requires a great act of imagination for people like us), the US president is almost always the most likely candidate. The AC is supposed to be the most powerful man in the world; to lie all the time; to pretend to be the opposite of what he is; and especially to present himself as a man of peace when he really promotes war. Also he's supposed to get involved in a muck-up in the middle east.
Sounds like every president I've ever known.
