A fertilised egg doesn't get a blood spot until the egg has been incubated for a day or two.

Most people wouldn't notice any difference between fertilised and unfertilzed eggs. Though obviously if the hen has gone broody and started sitting, the developing embryo, which begins with a bloodspot, would be a dead give-away. But if the egg hasn't been incubated, there is no evidence you would notice.

That's no big deal. I'm sure he doesn't mean to say he sells eggs that have an embryo in them though.
