Because this is what Democrats *do*. All the lesser-evillist constituencies must be reminded -- frequently and forcefully -- that they have nowhere else to go, and must eat whatever shit their party chooses to dish out. And smile while they're eating it.
If this lesson isn't driven home often, the constituencies might start to feel they were entitled to something. The possible consequences are terrifying to contemplate.
