Oh! it will be a good seminar. I am in India and cannot participate. But would the proceedings be made available on net?

The problem with US economy is "living beyond means". First correction should be in reducing military expenditure.. they would argue this would mean unemployment.. sooner or later US should learn not to depend upon military related employment. They are not actually threatened by any body. Let them get over this paranoia first.

Out sourcing , merely on the ground it is cheaper, which actually means. less profit, should stop and generate internal employment even if it means reduced profit. In course of time, in the medium term, this step would bring about correction about its profitability as well. Sooner or later this step is a must. Only corporates want this type of globalisation, that thrives on the suffering of global market. Even in India corporates are

abandoning internal investment and are rushing every where else in search of higher profitability.. so much for their commitment to their own country!

Thirdly they must bring restrain in the consumption of energy /oil in the unproductive field like personal transport. comedown heavily on inefficient cars. improve public transport. Many FMC goods are easily made inside US and thus generate employment but you have the luxury of importing them from abroad. Take a relook on this..
