How about a different analogy?
The effect of a knife to the heart vs a bullet through the heart.
Different things that kill by nearly identical means.
And are ultimately protected against in more similar than dissimilar ways.
How does one protect differently against creeping fascism than one does 
against our current US admins authoritarianism?
