no. i actually studied what you are talking about and could make your 
arguments. i could make arguments for other sides, too.

i think, in the context of the discussion, you were being a pedant -- and 
still are -- hijacking the conversation in order to hone an axe -- a highly 
obscurantist one to booth -- instead of just dealing with the different 
ways people use theory and having a conversation with them about the topic 
at hand.

i mean, it turns out that what you really want to attack is those who you 
think use the word theory to legitimate their work in academia and 
elsewhere. where's carrol bitching about impugning motivatiosn when you 
need him huh huh huh?
