Hey, LBOers. This morning an old friend came by to give me his old iBook with some early version of OSX 10. After about an hour of fiddling around I got on my old dial up account and logged in which is where I am at the moment.
Some questions. I can't find a browser. Something called Safari(?) which looks like a browser doesn't seem to respond.
What I need is of course the missing manual. So I could use a web site reference that covers setting up the default utilities on an old iBook and how to set-up a Mac on a FreeBSD 6.2x.
Here is the crazy thing. Now I have BSD running on the first disk, XP on the second drive and an iBOOK and can't get any of them to do all the cool kid media stuff---mainly because there are no manuals anymore to read and struggle with. The problem with most of the on-line stuff is it is in bits and pieces which usually doesn't quite applay to the particular `how to' I am looking for.
So, starting at the top. Any suggestions on a good XP manual that covers system configuration, including video, cd-dvd drivers (where to get them and how to install them), erasing a badly configured XP (my current status on that), hooking up ethernt DSL on XP, and other semi-advanced stuff...
Thanks...
