A couple months ago, I was reading a list of books that had been banned in the prisons of one southern state. Most of it was predictable: Marx (but only the Manifesto), Nietzsche (but only Beyond Good and Evil, IIRC), lots of Black Panther stuff, lots of pornographic novels and magazines, MIM Notes, some anarchist pamphlets, Nation of Islam pubs... and _tons_ of Dungeons & Dragons books. This was a pretty long list, maybe 50 pages, single-spaced, and I'd guess five to ten percent of it was D&D-related.
What prison officials find so threatening about D&D is anyone's guess.
Mine is that they think its Satanic, but who knows?
Not surprisingly, only a handful of titles sounded like they were advocating white supremacy. I guess George Jackson and Malcolm X are bigger threats to prison security than neo-Nazis.
