Obama: A bud to share a Bud with March 7, 1:09 AM

Great. ... All we need is another “political phrase of the moment.” Remember “soccer moms”? Then “latte liberals”? Here’s a new one: “Draft beer Democrats.”

A new survey by the National Beer Wholesalers Association asked individuals to name the candidate they’d most like to have a beer with, and Barack Obama easily cruised to victory (41 percent, compared with 21 percent for John McCain and 10 percent for Hillary Clinton).

“People seem to like presidents they wouldn’t mind being stuck in an airport bar with,” said Doug Hanks, who authored “Barguments,” a book filled with barroom-friendly questions and arguments.

Perhaps most interesting is the fact that Clinton’s third-place finish in the poll doesn’t live up to the, ahem, bar set by hubby Bill Clinton. Hanks says that the 42nd president is far and away the most popular answer when people are asked what president they’d like to have a beer with. “Men like hanging out with men who are liked by women,” Hanks says. Naturally, JFK is a close second.
