But who in Hell is suggesting that the government bail out any of the people getting evicted? Nobody's going to "spend hundreds of billions to prevent millions of people from being thrown out of their homes." Where is the draft legislation? Have you seen anybody in the government suggest even the most superficial subsidies for actual eviction victims?

The government will definitely squander the hundreds of billions of tax dollars to bail out the hedge traders and big banks, and my guess is they'll come up with some kind of pissant Federal support for the hot shot speculators with their five or ten unsellable "homes," but the individuals who foolishly signed ARMs to buy houses they themselves intended to live in will be invited to go fuck themselves.
