I am on quite a few mailing lists. The recent round of
demonstrations and repression in Tibet have come up
on several of them, but not here.

Why not?

One thing I find amusing.  Some Westerners criticize
Iran as "medieval" or "theocratic", and seem to think
that justifies various measures against them.  Where
would that lead if applied to the Dalai Lama?
