Actually it has come up before as a general subject, with fault lines similar to what you're seeing now.
Similarly to Dwayne, I feel about it the same way I do about the excitement around whomever it is that past and current governors of NY state and mayors of Detroit are sleeping with and who paid whom for what and how: yes, it's shitty, but somehow I find all my adrenaline expended on the Chief Justice being openly ok with torturing people, and that seeming to pass with much less comment.
I just don't morally multitask well, I guess.
