Actually, this is not so. It's an institution, an organization -- like Microsoft or Goldman Sachs. Unless you're a hard-core nominalist -- and who is? -- you have to concede that such entities have a kind of existence.
More to the point, they have a history and what you might call a life-process: a way of obtaining the nutrients they need and perpetuating themselves from year to year.
Essay question: In the case of the Democratic Party -- describe that life-process.
