Actually, if you look at the way that marriage has been conceptualized since the 1960's, the foundations are being undermined. Even the concept being offered by the right emphasizes love over property, and partnership over patriarchal relations. It's not that gay marriage subverts 'traditional marriage' per se, rather traditional marriage is already a concept in crisis, which can be pushed further down the path of its destruction.

Its tradition. I don't think that contemporary marriage is traditional for the most part. But, I might be exagerating a bit. Robert Wood
