Yeah, it's strategy, but leftwing it is not. Everybody is an evil ultraviolent Space Fascist. It's a teenage boy's wet dream (but isn't that everything???)
Speaking of Lovecraft, have you ever read the story he ghost-/cowrote with Zealia Houston? He actually did several with her (The Curse of Yig among others), and I can't remember the title of this one, but it involves an evil French (boo! hiss!) foreign (boo! hiss!) woman (boo! hiss!) who is especially evil because she is a NEGRO!!!! (extra-loud boos and hissing). The race stuff was so dated and over-the-top even for Lovecraft that it was beyond the pale (pardon the pun).
