======================================== Yet the election is trending towards the Democrats, with a black candidate and in a climate of rapidly rising economic insecurity, both factors which are presumed to contribute to the growth of right-wing populist sentiment. The early indications are that most viewers weren't taken by Palin, who represents the conservative segment of the US working class, which is substantial but not a majority. How do these results square with your persistent foreboding about the direction of US politics?

^^^^^ CB: Notice Palin used the term "working class", a no-no in American political discourse. The Republicans are getting desperate. That's traditional fascistic demogogy since Mussolini :the candidate for the extreme anti-working class party pretending to be a champion of the working class; fake folksiness/volksiness. It's best pulled off by actors and actresses, like Reagan or Palin, although Palin doesn't deliver her lines as well as Reagan, because he had more practice.

Same thing on Capital Hill in the first bailout vote in the House. If McCain (rhymes with Palin) gets in, Joe Sixpack will get shot in the back with a moose rifle. It's the same Reaganite actor's, dirty trick, but will this trick work one more time ?
