========================== There's a definite whiff of fascism around Palin and the constituency she represents - an insular nastiness under that down home neighbourless and gemutlichtkeit. Reagan was more a product of Hollywood, well connected to the political and corporate establishment, and more interested in ideas than his persona suggested. Same base, but feeling more economically and culturally threatened than under Reagan as the US goes into decline and its population becomes more diverse.
