it's a targeted ad for the base, so not really contradictory. it's playing on the Obama is untrustworthy narrative. There was a really good essay in the NY Times on the 29th, The Making (and Remaking) of McCain, that pointed out how their final strategy is to get the base to see Obama as a faker, a poser, an opportunist who'll say anything. Of course, this plays right into the conservative religious right's rapture ready mindset, because the evil one will "bring America down from within". I just love how that rapture ready shit has infiltrated the general population, been secularized, so you can believe that nonsense and have no idea it was once part of a fringe element's theology -- as in that video Lenin's Tomb posted on the Socialist! Commie! Terrorist! thread.
