That means Boston's hockey team had a black player before it's baseball team did. The Boston Red Sox were the last team in the league to have a black player. His name, a great baseball name, was Pumpsie Green and he started playing for them in 1959.

The Curse of the Bambino is bunk. The Red Sox turned down Willie Mays.
