It worked for a few days. You can wrap "A Handmaid's Tale" in a Gloria Steinem book jacket, and it will fool people until they open it up. I think the Palin nomination was just a hail mary play from the McCain campaign. He was floundering anyway, so why not. I think the trouble is that not even the Republican party proper understands the true Dodge City nature of Alaskan politics, and the scandals and coverups underway now will sink the whole ticket.
