The Wikipedia entry on socialism is the top hit on Google; In second place is the Wikipedia entry on "market socialism," while in third place there is the dictionary.com definition. Probably, these top three hits did influence what the views of the population of U.S. internet users. I hasten to add that the U.S. Google searches (i.e., related to searches for "socialism") with the highest growth in traffic, over the previous 30 days, were (1) "fascism" (+80%), (2) Marxism (+70%), and (3) "what is communism?" (+40%).
