Iirc, it was Fernando Flores who got TW interested in H.. Francisco Varela too. In his later years, even as he was working on immunology, FV spent a lot of time melding his approach with Merleau-Ponty's phenomenology ["but the footnote on mescaline, honey, I'm serious!"].
It would be fascinating to find out about how intellectuals in Chile, Brazil etc. got turned on to Heidegger.
Did I mention that imho H. set new standards in bloviation?
